Аннотация
This article discusses a new model of urban development in post-Soviet cities arising from the historical development of settlements in the expanses of the Russian Empire, and then the Soviet Union. This refers to the emergence in a unique environment for a new type of city whose definition gradually crystallized the concept of a «Eurasian city,» characterized by wild capitalism, developing based on socialist structures. The question is discussed as to whether there is a proper Eurasian format for a city and whether there is continuity or lack thereof in the Eurasian space, unlike other regions. Eurasian cities are considered in the context of the
following questions: what architectural styles and construction methods prevail; what features are brought to the fore; how the internal structure is formed; and how politics influenced city formation? On this basis, the author provides assumptions about what elements characterize the modern and, primarily, the future Eurasian city and what parameters exist for future urban planning and construction projects.
